Classic Nature Camp

Remember when summer seemed to last forever?  The world always seemed to slow down as the temperature went up.  As children, we were able to throw our schedules to the wind and our attention to the clouds, green grass and butterflies.  Our classic Nature Camp brings those moments back for a new generation.  It provides a well-rounded experience for campers of every age.  We explore the many miles of trails available to us, including Coogan Farm, for most camps.  Children have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of ecosystems and habitats such as ponds, streams, meadows and forests, in addition to area beaches and marshes for camps that go on field trips.  Every camper will get a close up look at the Nature Center Exhibits including the very popular Night in the Meadow theater.  Animal encounters are a favorite as we introduce our resident frogs, turtles, snakes, rabbits and birds of prey throughout the week.  At nature camp, children make friends and practice social skills through fun games, test their physical motor skills by climbing on our favorite rocks and boulders and express themselves creatively through various art projects and activities. Nature camp brings children back to basics and nurtures connections to the natural world.

Dream Weavers

Weaving was a necessary skill used by many of our ancestors and is a survival skill in the world of many animals. Join us in this exciting new camp and learn about the creative and useful art of weaving in both the human and animal worlds. By collecting materials from the environment around us, we will choose some projects to make such as  cordage, nets, cattail mats, baskets and even an outdoor loom.  The list of possibilities are long and campers will have a chance to follow their interests.  We will begin with basic weaving techniques along with adventurous hikes, team building games, free play and lots of creativity! Become a dream weaver for the week!
