Classic Nature Camp

Remember when summer seemed to last forever?  The world always seemed to slow down as the temperature went up.  As children, we were able to throw our schedules to the wind and our attention to the clouds, green grass and butterflies.  Our classic Nature Camp brings those moments back for a new generation.  It provides a well-rounded experience for campers of every age.  We explore the many miles of trails available to us, including Coogan Farm, for most camps.  Children have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of ecosystems and habitats such as ponds, streams, meadows and forests, in addition to area beaches and marshes for camps that go on field trips.  Every camper will get a close up look at the Nature Center Exhibits including the very popular Night in the Meadow theater.  Animal encounters are a favorite as we introduce our resident frogs, turtles, snakes, rabbits and birds of prey throughout the week.  At nature camp, children make friends and practice social skills through fun games, test their physical motor skills by climbing on our favorite rocks and boulders and express themselves creatively through various art projects and activities. Nature camp brings children back to basics and nurtures connections to the natural world.

Ever wonder why animals camouflage?  Why does that moth have a design on it’s wings that look like owl eyes?  Nature includes mimicry for good reason.  Come join us in learning about how and why nature likes to copy itself and what we’ve learned from copying nature, too!  Campers will learn about cool animal adaptations that teach us how to swim, fly and even build better.  This camp includes meeting live animals, scavenger hunts to find our elusive nature friends, nature copycat games and more!  Copy that!
