Saving the Coogan Farm
The Coogan Farm in Mystic is an historic 34-acre parcel of
magnificent land that for centuries has been mostly unaltered by the
amenities of modern life. It is the last parcel of undeveloped
farmland between downtown Mystic, Mystic Seaport and Mystic
Aquarium- where the country meets the coast. The Campaign to Save
Coogan Farm is an effort by Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center
(DPNC), the Trust for Public Land (TPL) and the community at large
to preserve the landscape and legacy for future generations to enjoy
educational and recreational opportunities.
Also planned in the Campaign to Save Coogan Farm is the expansion
and enhancement of existing trails to link the Mystic River area to
the Nature Center and a community-wide trail system open to the
public, free of charge. The Coogan Farm has tremendous community
value. We invite you to learn more about what it has to offer and
support this crucial campaign that will protect natural and
historical resources vital to our community’s continued growth and
identity.
