DPNC Program Cancellation Policy: Pre-registration allows the Nature Center to secure staffing and materials for programs, so that we may best serve you. We require pre-registration and pre-payment for most programs in order to reserve a space. If DPNC cancels a program, you will receive a full refund. If you withdraw from a program more than 4 days in advance, you will receive a refund less a 25% administrative fee. Withdrawals within 4 days of a program are not refundable. Preregistration for all programs is always recommended. Walk-ins should be prepared to pay by check or with exact change for programs at Coogan Farm, off-site, or after hours, and may be turned away if program is full.

Blubber, Baleen and Blowholes (Canceled)

Marine mammals, such as whales, seals, manatees, and even polar bears, are important apex predators in the marine food chain. Participants will explore the diversity of marine mammals and their unique adaptations to the ocean environment. They will investigate how baleen and toothed whales feed differently, how blubber creates an important insulation layer, and which marine mammal species can dive to great depths for long periods of time. Participants will explore these topics with hands-on demonstrations and discuss marine mammal conservation. Pre-registration is encouraged. Children ages 5-12.
