May 9 & 23, and June 13 1:30-4:30pm
Meet at DPNC $15/per child/per class
Our Homeschool program has grown in popularity so much over the last two years that we are revamping it to make sure it remains a quality educational experience for all ages! Meets 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month, January-June 2017, from 1:30-4:30pm. Minimum 3 students for each program to run.
Little Explorers (ages 4-6) With our youngest learners in mind, explore natural themes with creative play, songs, storytime, and crafts. We’ll spend time outside, using our senses to discover the plants and animals that live right around the Nature Center. Snack provided. Maximum 10 students.
Scientists (ages 7-9): It is a wide world out there, and we are going to learn as much as we can about it! Students will be guided through the scientific process, with a new topic of inquiry each session. Create hypotheses, conduct experiments, and get ready to make some awesome discoveries! We’ll explore the fields, forests and wetlands to gain inspiration for our experiments, letting natural curiosity guide the way. (Please provide a snack for your child).
Eco Engineers (ages 10+): Specifically designed for our older home school students, learn the science behind why plants and animals behave the way they do. Make tools out of natural materials, create a dam in the stream to study the effect it has on the surrounding ecosystem, and conduct other experiments that focus on the natural world and problem solving for the future. Fun, recreational activities include hiking, orienteering with a map and compass, team building games, and more! (Please provide a snack for your child).
Final three classes will be May 9 & 23, and June 13. June 13th will be a field trip to Bluff Point for the Eco Engineers and Scientists. Visit dpnc.org/homeschool/ for the daily themes. DPNC family membership required. $15 per child, per class.Register Little Explorers Register Scientists Regisger Eco Engineers
