2017 Summer Nature Camp: Week 1

  • Valid physical/immunization or exemption and authorization to administer medication forms need to be on site no later than one week before camp starts or you risk losing your space. Campers will not be allowed to attend without the required forms

Pre- and After-camp Care

Pre-camp (8:15-9am) is available for all camps, except Ducklings.  $30 member/$35 non member/full week only

After-camp (4-5:30) is available for all full day camps except  Farm and Sea.  $55 member/$65 non member/full week only.

  • Emergency use of pre- and after-camp will require payment of the full week’s fee

Classic Nature Camp

Remember when summer seemed to last forever?  The world always seemed to slow down as the temperature went up.  As children, we were able to throw our schedules to the wind and our attention to the clouds, green grass and butterflies.  Our classic Nature Camp brings those moments back for a new generation.  It provides a well-rounded experience for campers of every age.  We explore the many miles of trails available to us, including Coogan Farm, for most camps.  Children have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of ecosystems and habitats such as ponds, streams, meadows and forests, in addition to area beaches and marshes for camps that go on field trips.  Every camper will get a close up look at the Nature Center Exhibits including the very popular Night in the Meadow theater.  Animal encounters are a favorite as we introduce our resident frogs, turtles, snakes, rabbits and birds of prey throughout the week.  At nature camp, children make friends and practice social skills through fun games, test their physical motor skills by climbing on our favorite rocks and boulders and express themselves creatively through various art projects and activities. Nature camp brings children back to basics and nurtures connections to the natural world.


Ducklings (Age 3)

Must be potty trained

Eagles (Ages 4-6)

Must be potty trained

  • Half day 9am-1pm   $185 member/$215 nonmember
  • Full day 9am-4pm  $270 member/$315 nonmember

Farm And Sea

A Collaborative Camp With The Mystic Seaport (Ages 8-14)

Full day 9am-4pm  $350 member/$400 nonmember (may be a member of either organization)

  • Register through Mystic Seaport, 860,572,5322, ext. 1
  • Registration for pre-camp (8:15-9am) is separate and handled through the Nature Center.
  • Drop off at Coogan Farm. Pick up at Mystic Seaport.  Travel to the Seaport will include either walking or by van.

Get the best of both worlds with this unique program where campers spend the morning focusing on the history of the Coogan Farm with the Nature Center, and the afternoon sailing at Mystic Seaport.  Time at Coogan Farm and the Nature Center will include exploration, hands-on activities at the farm, and participation in the Giving Garden.  Campers will eat lunch before traveling to Mystic Seaport where they will learn how to sail in JY15 sailboats (weather permitting).
