Summer Nature Camp Week 7

July 21 – July 25

Theme: Nature Detectives

In addition to classic nature camp activities, campers will spend the week becoming master detectives and solving mysteries of the natural world!  From tracking animal footprints to discovering our forest’s secrets, we’ll become experts in the art of deciphering nature’s puzzles.

Classic Camps

Join us at the Nature Center for a week of outdoor fun! Each morning we’ll start off with free play as campers arrive and check in. Throughout the day, campers will hike, have live animal encounters, and participate in games and activities that relate to the theme of the week. Please provide a morning snack, non-perishable lunch, water bottle and change of clothes. Sturdy shoes that can get wet and muddy are essential at camp! No Crocs or flip flops, please.

Specialty Camps

Giving Back with the Giving Garden

Naturalists/Adventurers (Ages 11-15)

Working alongside our farmers and volunteers at the Nature Center’s Giving Garden at Coogan Farm, campers get a hands-on introduction to sustainable and organic farming practices. Their work contributes to the cultivation and harvest of thousands of pounds of fresh produce donated annually by the Giving Garden to the food insecure population of New London county.  Campers will also be given the opportunity to learn how to preserve our outdoor spaces, making them accessible for the community.

(Ages 13-15)

Does your camper love caring for animals? This week is for them! Animal Care campers work hands-on with our resident animals. Activities include setting up and cleaning tanks, feeding and providing enrichment activities for our resident animals. Campers also learn about the care of wild animals in our rescue and rehabilitation program. Campers alternate animal care opportunities with hikes, games and other nature camp activities.
