The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has a week’s worth of fun outdoor programming to keep your children active over the December school vacation. You can choose just one program, or all! Morning programs are different each day (please bring a bagged lunch). Each afternoon is Nature Adventures, which is free play both indoors and out! Always dress your child for the outside weather!
Winter Wonderland
Monday, Dec. 28; 9am-1pm

Spend a fun winter day at the Nature Center! We’ll make snow and ice sculptures, observe snowflakes, and talk about how animals adjust to the cold temperatures and snow. Learn about awesome animal adaptations, enjoy a walk in the winter woods, and look for animal tracks in the snow! We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace. Dress for the weather and bring a bagged lunch. Ages 5-12.
Nature Detectives
Tuesday, Dec. 29; 9am-1pm
$25.50/member, $30/nonmember
Animals leave behind clues that give us glimpses into their lives. Join us as we search the fields and forests for signs of animal life – tracks, trails, scat, homes, and more! We’ll be sure to visit with some of our live animals as well! Crafts and games help teach about the local animals of CT. We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace. Dress for the weather and bring a bagged lunch. Ages 5-12.
Frozen at the DPNC!
Wednesday, Dec. 30; 9am-1pm

Enjoy a walk in the winter woods to look for deer, and make rock trolls! Enjoy fun games and activities in the theme of the Disney movie. Costumes optional – come dressed as your favorite Frozen or Disney character (but remember to dress for the outdoors, too)! Bring a bagged lunch. We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace. Ages 5-12.
A New Year’s Eve Party
Thursday, Dec. 31; 9am-1pm

We’re starting our celebration early in the day! Join us for a look back at the old year, while we gear up for the new one. All of our animal friends are invited to the party, too! Visit with and learn about our owls, snakes, turtles, and more. We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace. Dress for the weather and bring a bagged lunch. Ages 5-12.
