The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has special programs for Monday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, Feb. 17 that are guaranteed to enrich your child’s school break.

On Monday, Feb. 16, sign up for Bird Presidents in honor of Presidents Day. Learn the difference between the birds that have migrated and the resident birds that stay through the winter.  Meet some of the hawks and owls that live at our center, and make a simple bird feeder to take home.  Decide which bird you would want to be president of the animal kingdom! We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace.  Dress for the weather.  The program is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (bring a bagged lunch) for ages 4-14. $29.75 member / $35 non-member

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. sign up for Tracking & Stalking. Animals leave behind clues that give us glimpses into their lives.  Join us as we search the fields and forests for signs of animal life – tracks, trails, scat, homes, and more!  We’ll be sure to visit with some of our live animals as well.  Crafts and games help teach about the local animals of CT.  We’ll warm up with hot cocoa by the fireplace.  Dress for the weather and bring a bagged lunch. Ages 4-14,  $29.75 member / $35 non-member

Both days we also offer Outdoor Adventures from 1-4 p.m. We’ll spend the afternoon outside, exploring, playing games and fort building.  We’ll even build our own campfire and roast marshmallows! Dress for the weather.  $21.25 member/day / $25 non-member/day. Ages 4-14
