Jeremy Ladyga has joined the staff of the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center as its first full-time director of development.

Ladyga started with the Nature Center April 11. Previously, he worked as director of institutional development at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford for five years. Born in New London and raised in Norwich, he holds a Master of Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music from The University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music. He lives in Stonington with his wife and son.

Also joining the Nature Center recently:

  • Cassandra Meyer-Ogren of Hope Valley, R.I., who started in November 2015 as manager of membership, volunteers & events. Meyer-Ogren was previously assistantdirector of alumni relations at the University of Rhode Island and marketing manager at Mystic Aquarium.
  • Jan Weyant of Westerly, R.I., is retail manager for both DPNC and its Coogan Farm property on Route 27. Weyant joined the Nature Center in the spring of 2015. Prior to that she was retail manager for the Audubon Society of Rhode Island.

Davnet Schaffer, in addition to her role as Preschool Director, has been named associate director of the DPNC. Schaffer has been with the Nature Center for 14 years, has been director of the preschool since it opened in 2006, and late in 2015 took on the role of associate director, working on the day-to-day operations of DPNC and Coogan Farm.

“It is an exciting time for the Nature Center, one of remarkable growth,” said DPNC Executive Director Maggie Jones. “With the recent opening of Coogan Farm, DPNC serves more of our community than ever in its history. At the end of 2015, the Board of Trustees adopted a strategic plan designed to move the Nature Center through the new reality of a larger organization encompassing two properties.  I’m thrilled to welcome Jeremy, Cassandra, and Jan to our growing and dedicated Nature Center team, which is central to achieving the goals set forth in our plan.”
